What harvest.tube Does

harvest.tube is a web application and Chrome extension that lets you save supported YouTube and Vimeo videos to a personal library for AI-powered summaries, timestamped navigation, and related knowledge-library features.

The extension does not automatically save every video you visit. Video data is sent to harvest.tube only after you choose a supported video and click Harvest.

Information We Handle

Account and authentication data

  • Supabase access and refresh tokens, user ID, session expiration, email address, and authentication state are copied from your harvest.tube web session and stored in Chrome extension-local storage.
  • The access token authenticates harvest.tube requests. If no harvest.tube tab is open to provide a current session, the refresh token may be sent to the harvest.tube Supabase project to renew an expired session.
  • Your email address is displayed so you can confirm which account is connected. It is not used for advertising.

Selected video data

  • The selected YouTube or Vimeo URL, platform video ID, title, creator, thumbnail, duration, embed information, and related source metadata.
  • Captions or transcript text and timestamps available to the selected page. YouTube requests may use the current YouTube page session; Vimeo caption-file requests omit credentials.
  • The active supported tab's title, URL, and favicon for the popup preview. The extension does not build a history of tabs you visit.

Local extension state

  • A small list of harvested YouTube and Vimeo video IDs is stored for duplicate-save detection.
  • A small onboarding preference records whether the first-run YouTube prompt was shown or dismissed. It does not record which unharvested videos you visited.
  • Temporary progress and error details are used to report whether transcript collection and submission succeeded.

How Information Is Used

Information is used only to provide and maintain harvest.tube features:

  • Keep the extension connected to your account and check your usage allowance.
  • Collect the transcript and metadata for the video you explicitly choose to save.
  • Store that video and generate summaries, timestamps, key points, automatic tags, and knowledge-library records.
  • Prevent accidental duplicate submissions and diagnose failed harvests.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

harvest.tube's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use this information only to provide or improve the extension's disclosed purpose. We do not sell it, use it for personalized advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness.

Humans do not read this data except with your affirmative consent for a specific support case, for security or abuse investigation, to comply with law, or when the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.

Service Providers and Transfers

  • harvest.tube and Supabase — authenticated API requests, account sessions, database hosting, and saved library data.
  • YouTube — locating captions available to the selected YouTube page.
  • Vimeo and Vimeo CDN domains — retrieving metadata and an accessible caption track for the selected Vimeo video.
  • Google Gemini and, where configured, OpenAI — server-side summarization and knowledge-library processing. The extension does not contact these providers directly.
  • Stripe — payment processing on the harvest.tube website. The extension does not receive or store payment-card details.

All extension network requests use HTTPS.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • A general history of websites or videos you visit.
  • The identity or transcript of videos you do not choose to Harvest.
  • Keystrokes, mouse movements, scrolling behavior, advertising identifiers, or precise location.
  • Payment-card or bank-account information.

Retention, Control, and Security

  • Local session data, harvested-video IDs, and the onboarding preference remain until the relevant state is cleared or you uninstall the extension.
  • Videos, transcripts, summaries, and knowledge-library data remain in your account until deleted under harvest.tube's account and retention processes.
  • You may request deletion of your account and associated server-side data by contacting us.
  • Extension permissions are limited to the supported video, harvest.tube, authentication, and Vimeo caption-delivery domains needed for its disclosed purpose.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the extension or its service providers change. The latest version will remain available at this URL with its updated date.
