What harvest.tube Does

harvest.tube is a web application and Chrome extension that lets you save YouTube videos and generate AI-powered summaries with timestamped sections and key points.

Data We Collect

Authentication Data

  • Session tokens are stored locally in Chrome’s storage to keep you signed in. These tokens are used only to authenticate requests to harvest.tube servers.
  • Your email address is displayed in the extension popup so you can see which account is connected. It is not transmitted to any third party.

Video Data

  • YouTube video URLs you choose to save are sent to harvest.tube servers to fetch video metadata and generate summaries.
  • Video transcripts are fetched from YouTube when you save a video and sent to harvest.tube servers for AI-powered summarization.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your browsing history.
  • We do not collect data from YouTube pages you visit but do not save.
  • We do not track which YouTube videos you watch.
  • We do not collect any data when the extension is idle.

How Data Is Used

All collected data is used solely to provide the harvest.tube service: session tokens authenticate your requests, and video URLs and transcripts are processed to generate summaries stored in your harvest.tube account.

Data Storage

  • Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s storage API.
  • Video data and summaries are stored on harvest.tube servers (hosted on Supabase).
  • A local cache of saved video IDs is kept to avoid duplicate submissions.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase — Authentication and database hosting.
  • Google Gemini — AI summarization of video transcripts (transcripts are sent to Google’s API for processing).
  • Stripe — Payment processing for paid subscriptions. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe; harvest.tube never sees or stores your card details.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above as required to provide the harvest.tube service.

Data Retention

  • Local extension data is cleared when you disconnect your account.
  • Server-side data can be deleted by contacting us.

Your Rights

  • Disconnect your account from the extension at any time (clears all local data).
  • Request deletion of your harvest.tube account and associated data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL.
